In 2015 I was growing the sugar Rush peach. Which originated from my good friend Chris Fowler over in whales. Note: if you want the original sugar Rush peach you can buy it from Chris on his website. https://welshdragonchilli.weebly.com/.
In 2015 I did notice one pepper a little bit larger than the others. So I decided to start a project of seed selection. I would take seeds from the largest pepper out of all plants each year. I would save the seeds from the largest pepper I could find and the girl with the following year. So on so forth all the way till current time 2020. each year I noticed the pepperwood grow larger and larger from my seed selection process.
This year in 2020 there has been pretty much a drought for weather wise. I watered them personally as much as I could. I feel that these peppers should have been a little bit larger this year. However I am going to find it very interesting when my customers grow it on an f6 on the different climates within the United States to see their results. for the most part I felt my results were consistent and I in fact did enlarge the pepper by seed selection.
I've been having meetings with Chris Fowler the originator of the sugar Rush peach and we both agreed for me to release it. Not under the name gigantic but under the name extra large. I will continue this project and see if I can continue getting results.
Note: sugar Rush peach is a capsicum baccatum. But this is a capsicum Chinense that means it crossed. I've been growing these for five years the extra large version. I've been isolating for four so that actually makes sense.
